Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook review!
A little background...
Life Day started as a Wookiee holiday celebrated by the inhabitants of the planet Kashyyyk. It was the celebration of an ancient tree that the Wookies believed was the source of all life. It was also a time to remember family members who had died, and the young ones who continued to bring new life to a family.
Now some lifeforms celebrate Life Day on November 17th, which coincides with the airing of the original 1978 Star Wars Holiday TV Special, but for some, that day represents the day a great horror was released upon this world (that same TV special), and they prefer to celebrate Life Day at other times. Many on Earth celebrate it during the traditional winter solstice-based holidays, while others celebrate it on their birthday. According to Wookiepedia, Life Day festivities could be celebrated over the course of several days, and during the Galactic War, festivities were conducted over the course of approximately two weeks. The moral of these facts is that this cookbook isn’t just for one day of the year, it’s for anytime you want to celebrate the amazing thing that is Life!
Anyway, on to the cookbook… it’s great! I thought it might be only full of gimmicky Star Wars food like blue milk, but it’s much more substantial. There are tons of really healthy land delicious looking meals in here, for instance the Roasted Rootleaf. But rebel scum, don’t be too disappointed, it is also full of gimmicky but really nicely done Star Wars food… like the Bantha milk hot chocolate. Mmmm. And packed full of fun illustrations and great photos of the prepared food. (I love the Wookie-Ookiees cookies around the Life Tree.)
It also features an introduction and notes written by Cookie, who as you probably know, was head chef back at Maz Kanata’s castle on Takodana. Those were good times. (Curse you First Order!)
And if you are new to Life Day, or have forgiven the producers of the original 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special, there’s also a handy guide to celebrating Life Day at home, and instructions for making Life Day Orbs, a Tree of Life, and even Life Day robes.
The cookbook also includes a helpful measurement conversion chart and a nice Dietary Considerations legend, identifying those items that are Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Vegan, and “Easily-made Vegetarian with simple alterations”. Thank you from the non-sentient life eating Life Day celebrators!
My only nit-pik... I'm not a big fans of the aged pages design element inside, which are supposed to make it look like an old cookbook. I like my cookbooks to start out clean. But maybe I'm just a nerf-herder.
Life Day is my new favourite holiday, and this book will make my and your next one and the sequels even better. You can find it at all the usual rebel bookstores or online.
Follow the video's directions to either free-fuse or cross-fuse these new images of Mars to see it in three dimensions.

"To kickstart National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). I am sharing a cool demo that I loved perfecting with our team. This attack is an example of a pretext using the USB Ninja to gain access to the target’s credentials and much more. The attack really drives home what a threat actor could do by simply plugging in a cable, or tricking you into doing it for him/her."
